Gaming1, the entertainment branch of Ardent Group, inaugurates its brand-new hub in the heart of Liège on 16 September. A move with great fanfare for the group from Liège, who today is the Belgian leader in both land-based and online games of chance (casino, sports betting and poker).
An international group
Since its creation in 1992, Gaming1 hasn’t stopped growing, not only in Belgium, but also internationally, as today the group is active in 9 countries around the world. The start of this year also marked the creation of Gamewise, a joint venture founded with Delaware North, a world-class actor in hospitality and the owner of several gaming halls and casinos in the United States and Australia. As part of this partnership, Delaware North will utilize Gaming1’s technology platform for their brand Betly.com on all the new markets where they operate land-based casinos.
Despite their international growth, Gaming1 has not forgotten about their roots in Liège. The group recently acquired several new gaming halls, including one in Guillemins, a stone’s throw from the new hub, which will open at the end of October.
A new hub in tune with today’s society
Today, Gaming1 is not only one of the most important digital skill centers in Wallonia, but it is also one of the most important employers in the Liège region with more than 400 employees in Liège including around 100 new arrivals since January 2021 and as many in 2020. To respond to Gaming1’s rapid growth, they are moving into this new space, designed and created in collaboration with the company OOO, opposite the Guillemins train station. It is a symbolic return to their roots as Guillemins is the area that saw the birth of the very first Circus Casino gaming hall.
These new facilities were designed and created with the goal of stimulating creativity, sharing and collaboration. Flexible spaces that aim to support well-being at work. Julie Thomas, Gaming1’s DRH, spoke about this subject:
Behind these facilities, there is a whole philosophy, a search to boost well-being at the office and therefore the company’s performance. I would like each employee to find their place and this working space allows them to find meaning in their activities.
The emphasis is on the desire to offer a work environment in tune with today’s society: easier collaboration, walking meetings, an increased possibility to work remotely and technical equipment adapted to this new way of working. These changes have the ultimate goal of offering an innovative and enthusiastic work environment. The company also hopes to attract specialized and highly researched tech profiles.
At the same time, the company gives its employees fringe benefits like concierge services, the possibility to play different sports, and fruit baskets made available for free.
A 3-day inauguration
To inaugurate the new hub in Liège, Gaming1 has put on a great spread. The festivities start on 16 September with a tour of the facilities and a reception for press, politicians and partners that have contributed to the creation of the new hub. On the 17th, it is the group’s employees who celebrate the inauguration of their new workspaces.
Finally, the 3-day inauguration finishes with a meetup on 18 September, during which various conferences, including Cédric Dumont, Lionel Lawson and Juan Gonzalez, will come to speak about augmented reality, cybersecurity and well-being at work. This event is free and open to everyone with a simple registration.
